For Windows 95 users, we are recommending Pueblo as a MOO client program. You can download Pueblo here.
Once you are at the Chaco home page, look in the upper right corner and find the words "Pueblo 2.01." Click on those words, which will take you to the download page. Using the pull down menu, select Window 95 and then fill in the blanks with your contact information. If you don't want to give that information, fill in garbage. Click to display the Download sites.
Click on a download site. You will be prompted to select the location where you want to store the Pueblo installer. Pick somewhere you will know where to find it.
If you're not sure about how to pick a location in which to store your files, go ahead and accept whatever Netscape picks. Then quit Netscape and put your mouse over the Start menu in the lower left hand corner. Click once, go up to Find, and select Files or Folders. In the box that opens, type the word "pblo201" in the text entry area. Click Find Now. When you find pblo201, double-click on it. You will be asked whether you want to install Pueblo. Say yes.
If you do know where you stored pblo201, go there and double-click on it. You will be asked whether you want to install Pueblo. Say yes.
The installation wizard will guide you through the installation process. I suggest accepting all of the defaults by simply pressing Next at each screen. When the installation finishes, you are ready to run Pueblo.
To run Pueblo, place your mouse over the Start button, click and go up to Programs. Drag your mouse over to the Pueblo folder and then to the Pueblo icon. Click once.
The first time you run Pueblo, you will have to configure it to access EmoryMOO. Click on the "Edit your Personal List" link. In the box that appears, select Add. Fill in the following information:
Name: EmoryMOO
Host: chaucer.library.emory.edu
Type: other
Port: 4444
Username: your MOO character
Password: your password
Login style: Send 'connect username password'
Click Okay here and in the Edit window. The original screen will appear with your new addition EmoryMOO. To access EmoryMOO, simply double-click on the EmoryMOO link.
Once you are in Pueblo, you can always get help by clicking on the question mark in the menu bar.
Windows 3.1 users can use Pueblo but will have to install both the Pueblo program and a patch to enable Pueblo to run under Windows 3.1. If you are not confident about using your computer and/or have noone to help you, you may want to stick with a telnet client because we cannot guarantee how the patch will affect individual machines. If you would like to go head and download Pueblo you can do so here.
Once you are at the Chaco home page, look in the upper right corner and find the words "Pueblo 2.01." Click on those words, which will take you to the download page. Using the pull down menu, select Windows 3.1 and then fill in the blanks with your contact information. If you don't want to give that information, fill in garbage. Click to display the Download sites.
You will see a screen with two download options. The top one that says "Download" is to download Pueblo. The second link (beginning with "ftp") lets you download a software patch that will allow Windows 3.1 to run Pueblo. Click both links. You will be prompted to select the location where you want to store the files. Pick somewhere you will remember. You will store two files: "pb16-201" and "win32s". If you're not sure about how to pick a location in which to store your files, go ahead and accept whatever Netscape picks.
Once the files are downloaded, quit Netscape. Open the Main window (will either be on the desktop or you can find it from the More Windows pull down menu in the Program Manager (what you see when Win 3.1 first loads). In Main, double-click on File Manager. Highlight the C: in the upper left. A listing of all your folders and files will display. Navigate through them to where you downloaded the two installers by double-clicking on folders. When you find the installers, double-click on "win32s". The installation wizard will display. Answer its questions as appropriate. Next, double-click on the "pb16-201" file and run that installer. I suggest accepting all of the defaults by simply pressing Next at each screen. When the installation finishes, you are ready to run Pueblo.
To run Pueblo, open the File Manager again (from the Main window--see above). Highlight the C: in the upper left and look for a folder named Pueblo. Open the folder and double-click on the icon named Pueblo. (This part I am doing from memory--I haven't tested it.--cm)
