Requirements for HTML Reports
When conceptualizing and executing your reports, you may want to consult the
lecture on HTML Design.
Functional Requirements
- contains appropriate and user-friendly navigational tools
- return links take you back to appropriate places (e.g., the list you
just left)
- works with Netscape 2.0
- contains document (URL, last modified) and contact information
- graphic elements help unify document
Aesthetic Requirements
- aesthetically pleasing
- attractive use of color (consider the psychology of color)
- consistent layout
- color and layout used to stress important information
- appropriate text/image ratio
Miscellaneous
- make it substantial (equivalent of 10-15 pages of traditional
report)
- write directly and in the active voice where possible
- chunk, queue, and filter information (see Markel, p. 336).
- spellcehck (yes--I did that on purpose!)
Turn in by 5 p.m. on May 29
- an evaluation of group members (form handed out in class)
- a one-page single-spaced memo to me defining your audience and purpose and the
techniques used to reach that audience and satisfy that purpose
- a final storyboard labelled with file names to the memo. Use a
graphics program or draw the storyboard very neatly.
