tone and content accordingly. Use effective document design techniques.
Your finished document should be 2-3 pages in length.
- how to change a car's oil
- how to balance your checkbook
- how to reformat your hard drive
- how to fully use your ATM card (include every option, not just how to
withdraw and deposit)
- how to add another component (CD-ROM, hard drive, sound card, etc.)
to your computer
- how to plan and plant a garden
- how to put up new wallpaper over existing paper
- how to make a homepage
- how to get Olympic tickets
Instructions Webbed
Turn this same set of instructions into a Web document. In doing so, take advantage of the possibilities of the new medium (links, color, etc.) and alter your document content and structure accordingly. If you did not use graphics in your print document, you must use them in the Web version. If you have print images that you want to use, you will need to scan them to get them into digitized form. There are scanners publicly available in the Rich Building Evaluation Center (main hall on the 2nd floor) Monday-Friday from 9-5pm. Bring your ID. Save your files in ".gif" or ".jpeg" formats. If you want to create graphics from scratch, MacDraw Pro is available in the Graphics folder of all clusters. MacDrawPro saves images in the ".pict" format which is a Macintosh format, so you will need to use a program called GIFConverter to convert the ".pict" files to the ".gif" format. GIFConverter can be found in the Graphics&Animation folder which is stored in the Utilities folder.
Due: Friday 5/10 by 5pm.
Turn into my office (Skiles 328) printouts of both code and document as it appears in Netscape. Write the URL of the document (it should be up on a Web server) somewhere prominent--make sure the URL is legible!
